A recent February snowstorm hit the Pacific Northwest, slowing things down for a day or two. But, per usual, Sequim was spared the brunt of the storm, and it is thanks to the Rainshadow effect of the Olympic Mountains that affords Sequim more sunny days than is typical in the (sometimes) dreary Pacific Northwest!

Winter is Better in Sequim

Since it’s located within the rain shadow of the Olympic mountain range, Sequim stays dry and sunny throughout the year. And this ideal weather creates mild temperatures and an annual rainfall of only 17 inches. While we do get the occasional snow flurry, winter days stay in the 40’s. So Sequim locals can play outside all year. Not to mention the lively, walkable downtown when they want to spend an evening at a great restaurant or shopping. All this in a beautiful setting surrounded by snow capped mountains, old growth forests and a shimmering coastline. Sequim really has everything that makes a great location and community.

First Friday Art Walk in Sequim

Sequim's First Friday Art WalkWhen most people think of Sequim, they think of a quiet, quaint small town nestled at the foot of the Olympic Mountains. Sequim is a town known predominately for two things:  It’s remarkably mild and sunny weather year-round, and it’s stunning lavender fields.  Those are certainly two great things to know about Sequim, but there’s so much more to this charming community.  It is a wonderful tight-knit community, and is home to a thriving arts community, bountiful farms and farmers markets, interesting antiquing and shopping downtown, delicious restaurants, and an abundance of natural resources for the avid outdoor enthusiast.  In fact, it’s pretty hard for us to find things we don’t like about Sequim.  One of our favorite times of the month are the First Friday art walks.
