The Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival comes to Port Angeles, WA

Fresh Caught Dungeness Crab with Butter and LemonSavor mouthwatering Dungeness crab dishes at the 17th Annual CrabFest, October 5th to 7th. This delicious festival takes over the waterfront of charming Port Angeles. The event is free and invites visitors to “Embrace Your Inner Crab” with an array of food, activities and live music. 14 local restaurants offer samples of their culinary creations. Also learn new techniques from celebrity chefs at the cooking demonstrations or sample the entries for the Chowder Cook-Off. In addition to great food, sample some local beer, wine or cider. Discover Great Fishing and Shellfishing in Sequim

The great fishing around Sequim has been a locals’ secret for some time. This unique region of the Olympic Peninsula has fresh and saltwater fishing at sunsethabitats and includes a wide variety of species. Halibut and salmon are found in abundance in the waters around Sequim. Chinook salmon are in Sequim Bay year-round, while the halibut season begins in May and lasts until June. Find shrimp, oysters, and Dungeness crab in Sequim and Discovery Bays. Head out to the Strait of Juan de Fuca to catch halibut, cutthroat, and steelhead. The Dungeness River has silver salmon while the Dungeness Spit has winter blackmouth. Sequim also has less rainfall than most Pacific Northwest towns and mild temperatures. The Sequim area has the driest Pacific Coast climate north of Los Angeles, California. The average annual precipitation is only 17 inches of rain per year.  Yes we do sometimes get some snow.

Clallam County supports “The Bus” system which serves the entire region. There is a connection to points in Jefferson County and Port Townsend. Monthly passes range from $18.00 – $54..00 Seniors over 65 ride for $1.00 cash for a one way ride. Senior passes are between $18 and $54 per month. Taxi services are also available. Currently there is bus transportation to Sea-Tac International Airport daily.
